ON THE DL
Unsilent Majority on Gilbert Arenas. Plus, Is the BCS All Smiles & A Longer NFL Season Just Means More Tanking.
Jack Kogod, better known around the interwebs as Unsilent Majority at KSK, joins the show to talk about the Three G’s - Gilbert, guns and gambling.

And what’s happened during the games? Well, undefeated Cincinnati got smoked by Florida. TCU lost to Boise State in a game that, while close, may not have been all that captivating and neither team really looked like a title contender out there. So the BCS can look at the last few games and pat itself on the back for getting it right, again. WIth only two teams left, who would you have chosen for a four-team playoff? Boise would have been the undefeated out of the mix and they WON their game.
Do two wrongs make a right? In the BCS world they do.

Unsilent joins the show to talk about Gilbert Arenas gun situation. Now, we recorded this before Arenas’ statement was released, which reads, in part:
“On Monday, December 21st, I took the unloaded guns out in a misguided effort to play a joke on a teammate. Contrary to some press accounts, I never threatened or assaulted anyone with the guns and never pointed them at anyone.
“Joke or not, I now recognize that what I did was a mistake and was wrong. I should not have brought the guns to DC in the first place, and I now realize that there's no such thing as joking around when it comes to guns -- even if unloaded.”
This statement sounds vastly different to the joking Gil is doing on Twitter. Does he take ANYTHING seriously? And what will the NBA have to say about this? Or the Wizards? Unsilent points out that the Wiz first reported this to the league in an effort to try and void his contract. And he shares former Washington Times reporter Mike Jones’ depiction of the events which is very different from Peter Vecsey’s initial report. Still...guns being tossed around the locker room? Yikes.
And what do we make of Vecsey’s version of the story? Should Gil really sue him? Man that’d be a great trial to watch.
More Football:
We talk about the recent PR run by Roger Goodell to try and calm fans down who are upset (and suing in some cases) with teams that have decided to rest players and not play hard the entire season - rather just until they make the playoffs. Tell Wes Welker you’re mad...you think he cares right now? But more to the point, the goal of the season is to win the Super Bowl, not make the fans at the stadium happy. Sure, there’s the issue of a team like the Colts rolling over for the Jets in an effort to keep Pittsburgh out of the playoffs, but you know what Pittsburgh could have done about it -- win more games.
The Colts earned the right to cruise. There isn’t much Roger Goodell can do about it. Oooh, draft picks? That’ll help when I’m picking my Pro Bowl wide receiver off the turf on a stretcher. Thanks, Raj.
This, of course, will impact the idea that Goodell has floated about more regular season games. Smart plan...now the Colts can take an entire MONTH off before the playoffs. They’d be like Ohio State going to a BCS bowl game! That’s what football needs.
Housekeeping:
Is someone we read every day gaming the system and screwing with his readers or really just this nuts? I rant. And 3-D TV is coming.
Thanks for listening.
